American Sentinel University Announces Tuition Reduction - Get the Best for Less
Effective immediately, American Sentinel University is lowering its tuition costs across all degree programs. For Multiple Course Plans, BS tuition will decrease from $250 per credit hour to $225 per credit hour. The MSN program tuition will be reduced to $300 per credit hour, and the MBA tuition will be reduced to $350 per credit hour.
Single Course fees will continue to be higher, with 3-credit undergraduate courses priced at $950 and graduate degree courses ranging from $1,175 to $1,475. A full breakdown of all tuition and fees is available here.
In discussing the change, Mary Adams, President of American Sentinel University, said the tuition reduction is a result of several areas of dramatic process improvement in the school's academic programs, student services and support systems. Adams noted that that the new tuition level reflected the school's goal of passing cost savings on to its students. "We are making huge strides in streamlining our academic schedule and improving teaching methods," Adams explains. "For example, we have moved our application and enrollment process on line and eliminated a lot of paperwork for our students and for us. Also, we've moved to a time-based academic calendar, which has simplified our ongoing course registration process. These improvements have resulted in improved teaching, better and faster student services, and also reduced costs for us. We're passing those savings on to our students."
Adams also notes that the institution of a new open source learning management system is dramatically easier and more functional for students, and, at the same time, represents a cost savings for the university.

In an Online Education Pricing Survey released by Lehman Brothers (http://www.lehman.com), the cost for a bachelor's degree in their sampling of online degree programs ranged from $37,000 to $75,000. At only $27,000 for a full 120-credit load (with no transfer credits), American Sentinel University's tuition is substantially less than the lowest point on this chart and is half the cost of the largest institution, University of Phoenix.

For a master's degree, Lehman's sampling ranged from a cost of $17,222 to $32,240. In contrast, under American Sentinel's new tuition levels, total cost for a master's degree is $10,080.

For an MBA degree, Lehman's sampling ranged from $18,960 to $32,240. Again, at $12,600, American Sentinel's total tuition for an accredited MBA degree is substantially lower than any other program and is less than half that of the largest universities.
