Admission to any of the American Sentinel University degree programs requires the following:
- A completed application
- A resume, curriculum vitae, or list of professional accomplishments.
- An official transcript forwarded from all institutions that document your previous academic work. If the student wishes to receive credits for courses or degrees from institutions outside the U.S. or Canada, the academic transcripts must be evaluated and certified by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. member organization. The certifying organization will assess a fee. The student should request that the report be sent directly to American Sentinel University. Applicants with foreign degrees, depending on the program, will need to request a General Report or an Expanded Report.
- If the first language is not English and
student does not have an undergraduate degree from an institution where
all courses were taught in English (one of the following is required):
- a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of at least 550 (written version) or 215 (computer version)
- an IELTS (International English Language Test) minimum overall band of 5 for undergraduate and 6.5 for graduate programs or verified earned certification in an English proficiency program.
In addition, the individual degree programs have the following admissions requirements:
- Associate of Science Programs
- Bachelor of Science Programs(except Nursing)
- RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Master of Science Programs (except Nursing)
- Master of Science in Nursing
Associate of Science Programs
- Evidence of graduation from high school or satisfactory completion of the General Education Development (GED) requirement in the form of official transcripts or GED certificate. Official transcripts of high school graduation or GED certification must be sent directly to American Sentinel University by the granting institution(s). Students wishing to enroll in an associate's degree program must have received a minimum GPA of 2.00 in their high school studies.
- For those applicants who have earned an Associate's degree or higher a copy of the college transcript may be submitted in lieu of a high school transcript.
Bachelor of Science Programs
- Evidence of graduation from high school or satisfactory completion of the General Education Development (GED) requirement in the form of official transcripts or GED certificate. Official transcripts of high school graduation or GED certification must be sent directly to American Sentinel University by the granting institution(s). Students wishing to enroll in a bachelor's degree program must have received a minimum GPA of 2.00 in their high school studies.
- For those applicants who have earned an Associate's degree or higher a copy of the college transcript may be submitted in lieu of a high school transcript.
RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Students wishing to enroll in the Bachelor of Science, Nursing program must possess an RN license with credentials from a hospital school of nursing or an Associate Degree accredited by an agency recognized by CHEA or USDOE. The student's RN license must be active and unencumbered.
- The Colorado Articulation Model is a statewide agreement which permits registered nurses who are graduates of community colleges and diploma programs to enter the BSN Completion option without taking tests to verify prior knowledge. Students will be awarded 30 semester hours based on their current RN license, allowing them to take just 30 more credits to complete the program.
- RNs who graduated within the last 3 years are eligible to enroll with no work experience or testing required. RNs enrolling after more than 3 years from graduation need to have 1,000 hrs of nursing work experience or complete an RN Refresher Course before enrolling.
- Nurses educated outside the US and who are eligible to practice as registered nurses in the United States will need to be certified by CGFNS and pass the NCLEX-RN licensure examination before being considered for admission to the program.
- Nurses educated outside the US who are not eligible to practice as registered nurses in the US, must have academic transcripts evaluated and certified by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. member organization. The completion of the degree will not qualify the nurse to sit for licensure as an RN in the United States.
Master of Science Programs (except Nursing)
- Original transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended, sent directly to American Sentinel University from the institution. Students wishing to enroll in a graduate program must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0 from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Master of Science in Nursing Program
- At least 2 years of full-time work experience in a nursing discipline.
- Original transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended, sent directly to American Sentinel University from the institution. Students wishing to enroll in a graduate program must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0 from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Students wishing to enroll in the Masters of Science Nursing program must possess an RN license with credentials from Bachelors of Science in Nursing Program. The student's RN license must be active and unencumbered.
- Nurses educated outside the US and who are eligible to practice as registered nurses in the United States will need to be certified by CGFNS and pass the NCLEX-RN licensure examination before being considered for admission to the program.
