Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)

Microsoft's Windows 2003 MCSA certification is for professionals who implement, manage, and troubleshoot existing network and system environments based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Operating Systems. These individuals typically do not deploy new networks and systems as part of their job function, as is expected of individuals holding the MCSE credential.

MCSA candidates should have 6-12 months of experience administering client and network operating systems. Unlike MCSEs, MCSAs are not expected to have design skills. The combined CompTIA A+/Net+ certification can be utilized toward the achievement of Microsoft's MCSA certification.

MCSA and Your Career

The MCSA certification will advance your career by ensuring that you have the skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot system environments running on the Microsoft Windows operating system. Other benefits include:

  • Access to technical and product information through the MCP Member Site.
  • Access to exclusive discounts on products and services from selected companies.
  • MCSA certificate, transcript, wallet card, and lapel pin to identify you as a Microsoft Certified Professional to colleagues or clients.
  • Invitations to Microsoft conferences, technical training sessions, and special events.
  • Free access to Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine Online, a career and professional development magazine.
  • A 50% off subscription to Windows & .NET Magazine, a leading source of independent, how-to information for IT professionals working on a Microsoft Windows platform.
