Grade Reports and Student Records

Students have access to their grades at any time during the program. They will be able to keep track of their progress throughout each course, and will be able to check assignment due dates, examination dates, and grades.

Any student consistently unable to make satisfactory progress in a course (typically triggered by a second missed deliverable) will be contacted by the professor to determine how to address the insufficient progress. The professor will also alert American Sentinel University staff. If requested, the Dean may also be engaged in this discussion.

Generally, students are not provided an opportunity to resubmit assignments that have not been successfully completed. In exceptional situations, and subject to the approval of the Dean, a student may be given the opportunity to resubmit an assignment. In these rare cases, no grades are deducted for resubmission. In extenuating circumstances, some students may be given an extension of the deadline for an assignment. Deadline extensions must be approved by the Dean and the course professor.

Each degree program has its own minimum course grade and grade point average (GPA) requirements, as outlined under "Program Progress and Completion Requirements". For all American Sentinel University degree programs, however, an overall grade of less than the minimum required for successful completion in any course places a student on academic probation and requires that the course be repeated. If a student does not achieve the minimum required grade the second time or has an overall GPA less than the minimum required for the specific degree program, the student will be required to leave the program. If the student wants to reenroll into a program, she/he must reapply. Students needing to retake a course as a result of a failing grade, a third below-acceptable grade, or a GPA below the minimum required must pay full tuition to re-enroll in a course.

Grade Protests
- Review of Returned Assignments, Progress Tests & Exams

If a student has a question or disagreement about how an assignment or examination was graded, the student may contact an American Sentinel University instructor for clarification. If, during the discussion with the student, the instructor discovers a potential error in grading, the student will be instructed to return the entire graded assignment/ progress test or examination. If warranted, the grade for the assignment/progress test or examination will be changed. All grade protests must be submitted in writing. The following must be included in all correspondence: course title, test/exam, question number, description and page reference. You may email your Student Service Advisor or send a letter to:
