American Sentinel's student support services are designed especially for busy, working professionals who need maximum flexibility while balancing school, family and work.
Every student has a personal academic advisor to guide them through their entire experience with us. Extra academic support is available through the mentoring program.
Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program is designed to offer a greater sense of community among the student body and provide additional academic tutoring for students. Mentors are volunteers who are experts in their field mentoring topics and are familiar with American Sentinel's processes and procedures.
Library & On-Call Virtual Librarians
American Sentinel offers a service that very few online universities offer: virtual librarians. Accessible 24/7 by email or phone, the virtual librarians are highly trained professionals, many with Ph.D.'s, who are exceptionally knowledgeable on subjects pertaining to American Sentinel's degree programs.
The librarians can custom-create research videos for each student inquiry, which illustrate how to search for resources within commercial databases containing academic and peer-reviewed journals. Our students have given the librarians a score of 100 percent on friendly and timely service, and 100 percent of those surveyed would use the service again
Books
After students have enrolled in a course, they will get an email from student services that contains name of the book(s) needed for the upcoming course.
Purchasing Textbooks
Students can purchase their course material from our fulfillment partner, EdMap, or from other sources such as Amazon. As a leading provider of resources for online learning, EdMap offers excellent customer service and reasonable prices in a secure online environment.
Software
The Microsoft Academic Alliance membership entitles American Sentinel students to purchase professional software for educational use at deeply discounted prices.
Career Center
Graduates and students gain information regarding IT, healthcare, and management careers. Our referral network links students to various sites where they can complete job searches or post resumes. Guidance on writing resumes, preparing for interviews, and negotiating job offers is updated frequently.
Video Resume
American Sentinel has a partnership with YourElevatorPitch.net a service that helps job-seekers craft and deliver their best pitch while providing the tools necessary to deploy it in a memorable video format. Details can be found here.
The Sentinel - Newsletter
Students and alumni receive a monthly newsletter, the Sentinel, which contains important, useful, and sometimes even fun information.
