To generate interest and encourage participation in the new degree program, American Sentinel University will offer for a limited time two $1,000 scholarships to prospective students who submit online Web site concepts or designs judged to be the most creative and artistic. Technology-oriented at its core, the new Web site design and development program offers specialized skill-setting in Web page structure, style and behavior. Emphasizing a hands-on curriculum – focusing on XHTML, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, Javascript and Document Object Model scripting – students will build sites, create code and engage in site optimization and troubleshooting.
“This new program is focused on real-world skills,” said American Sentinel President Mary Adams. “These graduates will be completely prepared for a creative, dynamic career after completing this course of study.”
In addition to gaining experience and mastering the necessary skills to function effectively in multidisciplinary teams, students taking this degree develop a philosophical underpinning that will allow them to adapt to the ever-changing landscape that characterizes this dynamic industry. The Web Design and Development degree program seeks to evaluate current technology and concepts, staying at the cutting edge of new Web technologies and design education. Students will plan, develop and implement effective and dynamic Web sites, characterized by design-focused structure, style and behavior.
“These students will concentrate on developing cutting edge Web sites,” added American Sentinel Provost Dr. Richard Oliver. “Not just sites that look great, but sites that work well, create buzz, and optimize presence.”
