AURORA, Colo. – October 17, 2012 – American Sentinel University announced today that Dr. Devon A. Cancilla, dean, business and technology, has been awarded the Sloan Consortium’s (Sloan-C’s®) highest recognition for his outstanding achievement in online education at the 18th Annual Sloan Consortium International Conference on Online Learning in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. on Oct. 11, 2012.
Sloan-C, the country’s most prominent association of academic institutions championing online higher education, has awarded Dr. Cancilla the John R. Bourne Outstanding Achievement in Online Education Award for his innovative advances in higher education virtual learning. Dr. Cancilla received the award for his work in developing a method and platform for K-12 students and college students to do research and conduct scientific experiments entirely online.
In recognition of unusual professional distinction, the Sloan-C Board of Directors recognizes individual members of Sloan-C who have:
- outstanding and extraordinary qualifications in the field of online learning;
- significant experience in online learning or an allied field;
- a record of distinguished service to Sloan-C or the field; and
- extraordinary contributions or leadership in the field of online learning.
