American Sentinel University Launches New Healthcare Degree Programs
Aurora, CO December 10, 2009 - American Sentinel University, an accredited online university that provides that provides degree programs for professionals, announces two new online healthcare degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) – Infection Prevention and Control specialization.

Bachelor’s Degree in Health Informatics
To meet the demands of the data-driven and dependent health information management industry, American Sentinel developed an online Healthcare Informatics degree program. This program is intended for individuals in the information technology (IT) or informatics field who may not have training or experience in healthcare specifically, or for billing and coding /medical records professionals already in the healthcare field seeking a degree in health informatics to increase their technological skills. The online healthcare informatics degree includes five courses that serve as the foundation for the Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) certificate.
Master’s Degree in Nursing – Infection Prevention and Control
American Sentinel’s new online Master’s Degree in Nursing with specialization in Infection Prevention and Control provides training and education in two emerging, but significant areas of healthcare: patient safety and quality control for hospital-acquired infections.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates approximately two million hospitalized patients per year acquire infections, resulting in 44,000-98,000 deaths at a cost of $17 billion – $29 billion.
