American Sentinel University recently announced its online GIS master’s and online GIS certificate programs, bringing the number of educational program options for people interested in the GIS field to four.

But many people know relatively little about GIS and the dynamic career opportunities it offers to those with the proper background and education. Economic sectors like government, health care, technology, environmental, energy, and utilities have embraced GIS for its ability to offer insight into strategic and operational issues that are impossible to gain in any other way.

To give further insight into the diverse array of industries in need of well educated GIS professionals, we recently published a complimentary white paper, GIS: A World of Career Opportunities.

Of course, no white paper can give you full insight into the topic of career choices and how to realize them. However, the information herein should help add some perspective and offer food for thought to those who aren’t completely satisfied with their current careers and who might want to explore a promising new area.
