About the Master of Business Administration Health Care
The MBA Health Care is designed for current and future health care professionals -from the health care administrator to the vice president of operations – seeking to lead in a rapidly growing and changing industry.
In an economic environment where organizations must operate as efficiently as possible while still offering high-quality patient care, today’s leaders must understand the interdependencies within the health care organization and make decisions in highly dynamic industry. The health care management degree program teaches students the fundamentals of business as they apply to the health care sector. A bachelor’s degree is required for admission into the online MBA Health Care program.
Relevant Curriculum
The curriculum of the MBA health administration program is designed to address current issues in health care today. Students learn about building and running accountable care organizations, handling the ethical and political issues in a health care system, operating a transparent organization and much more. - Health Care Strategic Management (HCA542): Teaches students to alter their focus from that of strategic planners to strategic managers capable of making just-in-time decisions based on business intelligence. Discusses the importance of responding quickly to regulatory and funding changes.
- Risk Management for Health Care Organizations (HCA550): A contemporary, broad risk management course that examines all levels of organizational risk, from facility risk to legal and regulatory risk to employment risk.
- Performance Improvement in Health Care (HCA560): Focuses on moving an organization forward as a learning organization, while adhering to performance metrics and expectations. Covers a variety of techniques for quality improvement and how to develop services for diverse populations.
- Health Care Marketing (HCA515): Explores service line and product line development as well as the role of communications professionals in a health care organization. Covers social media marketing and other current marketing trends.
- Health Care Information Resources Management (HCA538): Discusses the importance of selecting the right information technology for the health care enterprise.

Curriculum
Completion of the MBA Health Care degree requires 36 credit hours. Students may be eligible to transfer up to 18 credit hours from previous graduate study.
Undergraduate prerequisite courses may be required depending on an applicant’s background. The number of courses will be determined upon transcript evaluation during the admissions process. Prerequisite courses cannot be used to fulfill MBA Health Care course requirements and must be completed before beginning the program. Talk to an advisor about required prerequisite courses.
