CompTIA Network+ Certification

About the CompTIA Network+ Certification

CompTIA Network+ is the leading vendor-neutral certification for networking professionals. It examines a technician’s ability to describe the features and functions of networking components and install, configure and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services.

About the CompTIA Network+ Exam

The CompTIA Network+ exam covers the latest skills needed by technicians, such as basic principles on how to secure a network. This 100-question, 90-minute exam covers network technologies, media and topologies, devices, management, tools and security. The Network+ curriculum includes all of the major network operating systems including Windows 2003, Netware, Unix/Linux, and Macintosh.

Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Network+ candidates have at least nine months of experience in network support or administration (or adequate academic training) and a CompTIA A+ certification.

Network+ Benefits

Demand for skilled network support professionals continues to grow, and CompTIA Network+ is a valuable credential to begin or enhance a networking career. Many IT certifications integrate CompTIA Network+ into their curricula. Microsoft added CompTIA Network+ into their Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) program, and other corporations such as Novell, Cisco, HP, Lotus, and 3Com also recognize CompTIA Network+ as part of their certification tracks. Earning a CompTIA Network+ certification will enhance your resume.

Professionals with Network+ certification work as network administrators, network technicians, network installers, help desk technicians and IT cable installers. Some companies, such as Dell, Sharp and Xerox recommend or require CompTIA network+ for their networking technicians.
