About the CompTIA Security+ Exam
The CompTIA Security+ exam assesses candidates’ skills and knowledge in general security concepts, communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography and operational/organizational security.
Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Security+ candidates have at least two years on-the-job networking experience, with an emphasis on security. The CompTIA Network+ certification is also recommended.

CompTIA Security+ is recognized by the technology community as a valuable credential that proves information security competency. Corporations such as Sun, IBM/Tivoli Software Group, Hitachi Electronics Services and Verisign recommend or require the CompTIA Security+ certification for information security employees.

Registration
To register for the CompTIA Security+ exam, simply complete an American Sentinel application. Students who choose to pursue American Sentinel bachelor’s degree programs can receive transfer credits for the CompTIA Security+ certification.
