Watch highlights of the graduation ceremony |

American Sentinel held its second live graduation ceremony on June 8, 2007, for students who had graduated during the previous twelve months. The ceremony was held in Nashville, Tennessee and students came from as far away as Oregon and Mexico to attend. It was a time for celebration and fun.
After the ceremony, V. Anton Spraul, director of the computer science department, conducted impromptu interviews with some of the graduates. If you would like to see what happens when a professor interviews without a script, check out the amusing edited highlights, and if you are still working on your degree, keep at it, and we hope to see you at next year’s ceremony, which will be held in Denver, Colorado.

| As a student of a DETC institution, we need you to get involved and voice your concerns |
The Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) is the organization through which American Sentinel is accredited.
Students occasionally encounter difficulties when they attempt to get credit for their DETC work at another school. Despite the clear policies of the major educational organizations, some colleges continue to maintain an open bias against nationally accredited schools.
The hope was that Congress would tie into the federal aid programs a requirement to drop arbitrary exclusions of non-regional accreditors. The provision was recently attacked and deformed by a heavy lobbying campaign launched by higher ed groups.
The Senate HELP (Education) Committee voted unanimously on this Higher Education Act on Transfer Credits (SB 1642). Within this vote, one provision which adversely impacts DETC institutions permits colleges and universities to deny transfer credit automatically based solely on the source of accreditation. This is unfair, and should not be permissible. Good education cannot be confined to just one group of accreditors.
As a student of a DETC institution, we need you to get involved and voice your concerns. You can do that by writing to your elected officials. To find out more check out the information in "How to Write to Congress". If you don't know who to contact for your state, check these links for the names of your local representatives and Senators.
Take this opportunity to be heard. Help to ensure a strong future for your Alma Mater!
