Student Survey Results Available

American Sentinel University is committed to understanding what students want from their school. After teaching courses, we think it is the most important thing we do. That’s why we survey students every quarter. Frankly, ASU is not aware of any other school that surveys its students this often. Too much - we think not. We want to remain current with student issues and concerns and this is the best way we know how to keep in touch. So, keep responding, even if it feels like you just completed a survey “a couple of months ago!”

Over time, we’ll change some of the questions, but for now, we are keeping the survey much the same each time we ask, so we can identify trends. One important positive trend - the number of students who take time to fill out the survey.  ASU interprets this metric as real commitment to the school, and we couldn’t be happier.

The results are found at http://www.americansentinel.edu/docs/July08StudentSatisfactionSurvey.pdf. In general, student satisfaction is up in many important categories, while overall satisfaction is down slightly. It’s hard to reconcile this seemingly contradictory message, but we’ll redouble our efforts to keep overall satisfaction growing. Frankly, overall satisfaction is very high and has been for a long period of time. We’re committed to keeping it that way.

Summer Gen Ed Special

Look for a special offer on completing some of your Gen Ed credits this summer. Like everyone, ASU personnel will be taking some time off this summer (not all at once, though!). We’ve asked our Gen Ed faculty, however, to be available for students in August. While we understand the need for a summer break, we are sure that taking Gen Ed courses during this period will act as a stimulating change from your core courses, and inspire you to come back in the fall ready to get back to what brought you to ASU… getting that degree!

American Sentinel New Student Enrollments up, UP and AWAY!!

The first half of 2008 has been a banner period for ASU as enrollments have increased significantly over 2007. This is great news for students as increased enrollments enhance your education is many ways. These new enrollments allow ASU:

  • to offer new and unique courses;

  • to hire more faculty with different credentials and professional experiences;

  • to increase the quantity and type of student services we offer;

  • and, to continue expanding other academic programs that improve our reputation and the value of your degree!

Here is a quick snapshot of the enrollment growth:

1Q 2008 versus 1Q 2007                 +23%

2Q 2008 versus 2Q 2007                 +77%

1H 2008 versus 1H 2007                 +50%

Students have told us overwhelmingly OR  “the overwhelming reason” they chose ASU is because of the high quality and friendly service, from recruiting through graduation. One thing we can assure you - this will not change, no matter how many new students we add.  High quality and attention to your needs keeps us unique!

Growth – both qualitative and quantitative -- is critical for any organization, and ASU is no exception. Help us help you grow by referring someone you know to American Sentinel University. You’ll be glad you did. http://www.americansentinel.edu/Admissions/Student-Referral.php

Project Working Mom 2 Update

In the June issue, we announced the launch of this national advocacy campaign for working mothers seeking an online degree.  Since this project began in late June, more than 10,000 entries have been submitted overall (close to 1,000 for American Sentinel).  This campaign continues through August 31.  Check out two American Sentinel “working mom” graduates at Oprah.com:
