New degrees, certificates to expand offerings

In our continuing effort to offer courses that reflect industry and student needs, four new degree programs and certificates are under DETC accreditation review.

- BS in Information Systems Security. This program includes courses in network security, access control, and security basics. Many courses feature hands-on labs with tools such as network assessment and penetration testing. The program is designed to help students sit for the ISC2 SSCP certification.

- RN to BS in Nursing is aimed at registered nurses who desire career mobility and professional development. Courses include Nursing Leadership and Management, Case Management, and Integrated Clinical Practicum.

- AS in Health Information Management focuses on medical coding. Courses include Introduction to Health Information Management, Anatomy and Pharmacotherapy. Graduates are prepared for positions including Medical Coding Specialist and Medical Records Technician.

- AS in Criminal Justice is designed to help students to develop the skills, knowledge and abilities for an entry level position or to upgrade their present status in branches of law enforcement, federal, state, local, and private agencies.

If you know somebody who would be interested in the new programs, refer them to us. We will award you a $100 Amazon.com gift certificate for every qualifying student that is referred by you and enrolls in an American Sentinel's degree program. For more information, click here.

The Lawrence C. Phipps Memorial Conference Center was built in the 1930’s by Senator Lawrence C. Phipps to provide business and jobs during that depression period. The elegant Georgian mansion and tennis pavilion are situated on 5 and one-half acres of landscaped grounds in southeast Denver. The beautiful landscaped formal garden provides the backdrop for some of the area's most prestigious garden parties.

Proctored Final Exams - Tips for ensuring a smooth process

Proctored exams are an important and necessary component of many required courses at American Sentinel University. If you are enrolled in a course that requires you to complete a proctored exam, you need to schedule your appointment with the proctor prior to requesting your exam to be sent. If possible, find a proctor who has access to a fax machine. Having your exam faxed directly back to the instructor’s toll free fax line will reduce the grading turnaround time significantly.

Once you have made the appointment, complete and submit the Final Exam Request Form. This notifies us of the scheduled date of exam administration, which proctor will be administering the exam, and the method of delivery you prefer. Be sure your proctor has already been approved. All proctors must be approved before an exam can be released to them.

When you request your exam, allow three (3) full business days for electronic delivery to the proctor or seven (7) full business days for UPS delivery to the proctor. The final exam will be e-mailed or shipped UPS directly to the proctor. You will be notified via e-mail that your exam request has been processed. Final exam requests received after 3:00pm Central Time will be counted as arriving on the following business day. Requests are processed in the order in which they are received.
