Award Recognizes Gaby McCormick at North Suburban Medical Center as a Health Care Professional Making a Difference
AURORA, Colo. – June 22, 2017 – American Sentinel University and the Colorado Hospital Association (CHA) named Gaby McCormick, RN, BSN, VP of Quality, Risk and Infection Control at North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, as a Colorado Health Care Stars Award winner. This award recognizes McCormick as an exceptional health care professional.
Colorado Health Care Stars is a statewide health care professional award recognition program sponsored by American Sentinel University and CHA. The program was launched in February 2015 to acknowledge clinical professionals in Colorado who exceed expectations in the delivery of health care.
McCormick takes a collaborative approach to her role as Vice President of Quality to help North Suburban Medical Center achieve quality recognition for the hospital, including its sixth consecutive “A” rating from The Leapfrog Group and the recent sepsis certification from The Joint Commission making North Suburban the only hospital in Colorado to receive this distinction.
She was instrumental in ensuring the hospital received recertification of its Primary Stroke Center designation from The Joint Commission and plays a vital role ensuring that North Suburban prioritizes patient safety and the patient experience.
“Gaby is an exceptional leader and is a tremendous asset to the North Suburban team,” says Jennifer Alderfer, President, and CEO, North Suburban Medical Center. “The staff regularly comments on how committed she is to the accountability and integrity of her work and her team. Gaby is a role model for the staff and leaders alike, and we are proud to honor her as a health care star.”
“Nurses like Gaby McCormick embody the important role that nurse leaders play in health care today,” says Chris Wolfe, Vice President of Partner Relations and Program Strategy at American Sentinel University. “Nursing needs more leaders like Gaby who can role-model excellence, encourage collaboration, bring teams into alignment and ensure the best possible outcomes for the organization, and most of all, their patients. We are proud to name Gaby a Colorado Health Care Star and recognize her valuable leadership for the staff and patients at North Suburban Medical Center.”
