Transfer Credits for Military Experience
American Sentinel University recognizes the value of the many foundational training and leadership learning experiences provided by the United States Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Veteran and active-duty students often receive transfer credit for these experiences, which can shorten the time it takes to complete a degree. Additionally, we are proud to support our military students through our accessible, affordable degree programs and many other benefits.
American Sentinel University has been named a military-friendly school by Military Advanced Education and G.I. Jobs magazines for the past four years.
American Sentinel supports a comprehensive transfer credit policy. Prospective students are provided a no-cost evaluation of military training, CLEP and DSST exams, ACE-evaluated and industry-certification training, and prior college course work, and awarded transfer credit relevant to the chosen degree program. Students also may request life and work experience transfer credit and test-out options once they pay any required fees.
Through the DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST) and the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, you can translate military, work and cultural experience into college credits. Sponsored by the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) and the College Board, these exams provide service members the opportunity to earn credits toward general education requirements.
American Sentinel has 5 courses that map to DSST exams and 12 courses that map to CLEP exams. Courses for which you can test out through DSST or CLEP include introductory history, economics, psychology, chemistry, math, sociology, applied technology, physical sciences, English composition and more.
Military students may earn transfer credits for their military experience either by making sure the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations apply to their training or by requesting American Sentinel to evaluate their life and work experience.
