Development of Critical Thinking in Traditional Verses Concept-Based Curriculum

Educators are constantly evaluating to determine if their programs are meeting the demands of continual advancement in healthcare technology, evidence-based practice, and consumer-driven care. This challenge of meeting the healthcare needs of tomorrow requires nursing educators to ask if their curriculum is effective or if revision is in order. In response to the National League for Nursing’s call for nursing educational reform to create and shape the future of nursing practice (National League for Nursing, 2003); in the spring of 2016 a concept-based curriculum was adopted across all community college in the Alabama Community College System (2016).
