Which learning method is right for you?

Term-Based vs. Powered by SIMPath®

Students can choose from a traditional term-based delivery method or a more flexible method utilizing virtual simulations called Powered by SIMPath® to complete their digital credentials.

NOTE: Diagnostic Reasoning for the APRN is not offered in Powered by SIMPath® format.

Term-Based

Ideal for learners who prefer a structured approach with more guidance and less emphasis on simulated learning environments.

  • Coursework is presented completely online
  • Structured 8-week courses
  • Courses taught in a traditional format:
    • Highly structured courses with consistent due dates. Discussion posts are due on Wednesdays and papers are due on Monday mornings.
    • Regular peer interaction through discussion posts
    • Competencies are mainly demonstrated through writing papers
    • Fewer virtual simulation assignments

Powered by SIMPath®

Ideal for self-disciplined learners who are comfortable with technology, want to move through the digital credential at their own pace and demonstrate their skills utilizing an array of methods.

  • Coursework is presented completely online
  • Register for 16-week semester and complete the course at your own pace

    • Weekly meeting with your instructor and peers to keep you on track
    • No “due dates” – although all projects for the digital credential need to be submitted by the end of the 16-week semester

Digital Credential FAQs

The digital credentials are offered in two different delivery methods.

  1. Powered by SIMPath® – a self-paced, competency-based path where you can finish the course as fast as you like within a 16-week semester
