Chauvin Trial Verdict Message

The verdict has been declared, and we feel a sense of relief as well as a sense of accountability that justice has been served. We each encompass various feelings, including a deep sadness that nothing will bring back Mr. Floyd. What we can take away from the jury and from those who testified for the prosecution is courage. We must continue to find our voices and continue the conversations to end racism. The conversations may not be easy but know that your Post Family is here for you. We can do this together.

Holocaust Remembrance

Racism is a virus.

The murders in Atlanta yesterday remind us that anti-Asian racism is a painful and present crisis. This tragedy was not an isolated incident; hate-fueled attacks on Asian Americans have risen across major U.S. cities in the last year.

For decades, Asian Americans have been labeled a model minority, a damaging myth that diminishes the complexities of racism in the United States and downplays its role in our persistent struggle for inclusion in our society, regardless of ethnic or cultural background.

We must understand our past in order to move forward. Our past includes Chinese exclusion and Japanese internment, as well as xenophobia directed at South Asian communities after 9/11.

As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once wrote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” In the same way, hate and violence directed at Asian Americans is a threat to us all and must stop.
