Yes! This is a momentous occasion, and your guests are invited to attend both commencement and the open house. There are no additional charges for guests, and they do not need tickets. If you have friends, family, or colleagues who can’t make the trip to Colorado, share a live streaming link with them so they can view the ceremony.
All American Sentinel University graduates from May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020 are welcome and encouraged to attend the ceremony. Additionally, if you are within nine credit hours (three courses) of completing your degree by April 30, 2020, you are welcome to walk in this year’s ceremony. DNP students must complete and pass the final project defense by April 30 to participate in the ceremony.
All students who decide to walk at the commencement ceremony will need to submit an RSVP online. This link will be available in early 2020. Additionally, there is a $125 commencement fee associated with attendance due at the time you submit the RSVP form.
Yes. Students must order their regalia (cap, gown, and honor cords or hoods if applicable) Jostens and bring these items to the ceremony. Please visit the “Regalia Ordering Information” page in the Student Center (student login required).
Note: there will be deadlines posted in 2020 regarding the dates when you place your order for single-use regalia to receive it in time for the ceremony. If you are a graduate level student and are interested in ordering fine quality regalia, you will have an earlier deadline.
We will have a professional photographer at commencement. After the event, you will be able to find your pictures online and can purchase them for a fee. However, we also invite you to bring your own camera and take as many pictures as you’d like at all of the events
Although the ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m., we respectfully ask students to arrive at 8:30. This will give everyone the appropriate amount of time to line up correctly, put on caps and gowns, etc. Guests are welcome to explore the complex and find seats while graduates are getting ready.
The Denver Performing Arts Complex is located at 1000 14th Street in downtown Denver. There is a parking garage onsite located on Arapahoe and 13th Street. Fees for parking will range from $8-$12 per vehicle.
We are hosting an open house on Thursday, June 18th, at our office located at 2260 S. Xanadu Way, Suite 310, Aurora, Colorado, 80014. The open house, hosted from 4-6 p.m., is an opportunity to meet fellow graduates, staff members, and faculty; hors d’ oeuvres will be served, and there will be an opportunity to decorate your cap if you wish. Our Aurora office is located about 20 minutes from downtown Denver.
Here is a recommended list of hotels close to the arts complex where the commencement ceremony takes place. Simply select the “hotels” tab from the screen that opens. This is a popular area in Denver for food, entertainment, and shopping.
There are tons of hotel options downtown, and you may be able to find good deals at Hotels.com or other websites. Additionally, the Denver Tech Center and Cherry Creek are popular areas to stay, and both are within 20-30 minutes of the commencement site.
It may be possible to take a shuttle or taxi from the Denver International Airport to your hotel. However, if you are planning to explore the city or to attend multiple events throughout the weekend, it may be in your best interest to rent a car. You can search for car rental options from the airport, or you may be able to find other options online.
So much! At the bottom of this webpage, our student success team brainstormed their favorite places to eat and things to do in Colorado. June is a great time to catch a Rockies game, tour downtown, plan a mountain trip, visit the zoo or museums, and enjoy local food and drinks. If possible, we recommend staying for a few days to enjoy all the city has to offer.
